The time for my long-awaited and much anticipated change to WordPress.org, the self-hosted version of WordPress, has come. I figure there is no better time than when sequestered by the Bodega Plague. I have no idea what I’m doing. I am already flummoxed at step one.
Bear with me as I make this enormous step and please keep coming back, no matter what formatting horror you may find here.
Thanks for sticking it out!
The image is from Reasonable and senseless: the technical disaster by Donna Szoke. Excellent piece. Go read it.
Congrats on the change! Looking good so far! Sorry to hear you’ve been ill, hope you are feeling better soon. Will you get to enjoy the holiday with your girl?
Michelle,
Don’t congratulate me yet. This may be a huge mess for a while.
No travel back to the mainland and across it for me, not for a long time. So I’m spending Tofurkey Day here in Hawaii and she is visiting an old friend and her family. She is at last living a full life. I’m so happy for her.
Hey Kim…what is this plague thing? Sequestered? And tell me what makes wordpress a good option. I don’t know much about it, but know several people going that route. Educate me!
Hey Lori
The Plague is….hyperbole. I’m sick. That’s all.
And when I’m sick, I have the good manners to stay home and not infect the entire state. After a lifetime with an immune-suppressed child, I am really sensitive to people who walk around sneezing into their hands and then shaking yours.
Free wordpress hosting is fabulous. I can’t find a thing wrong with it. Every day they come up with new and wonderful things that make this the best blogging platform on earth.
But (very small But) there are some things I want to do that are not allowed when wordpress hosts you. I’m not telling in case I can’t pull them off. Well, maybe I’ll tell soon so I can get feedback from you guys about whether or not to include them here.
But for now, I’m keeping mum!
