As fellow bloggers and horsepeople, you have a unique point of view when it comes to discerning what you want in a blog. You also know what a labor it is to put one together and write, research and publish daily. If you’re dedicated to responding to each and every commenter, you appreciate the time and effort it takes to be fresh and connected to readers as well.
I’ve been perusing the nominees for the best bloggers of 2009 at The Bloggers’ Choice Awards and find some really amazing stuff (along with some pretty shockingly bad stuff, too). The horse blog I see on the first page is of course Fugly Horse of the Day, who gets a TON of readers! I have visited Fugly, but don’t like the negativity and attacks I so often read, which detract from the really great content posted there. I assume there are other horsey blogs listed as well. It’s a matter of taking the time to read all those pages and pages of titles.
There are so many awesome blogs out there, I am often humbled just by clicking on someone’s random link. Such great writers! Such beautiful photos! Such incisive thinking! This leads me to a question:
If you were looking for the best horse blog on Bloggers’ Choice, what would it include?
For me, it would include:
• varied and stimulating content related to the subject matter
• intelligent commentary
• assiduous research
• visually stimulating and appropriate photos and artwork
• a surprise now and again
• interesting comments and responses
• a sense of community among readers and the writer
Got anything to add?
