I’m a sucker for these festivals. if I can possibly get to one, I’ll go. Spend the day watching practitioners I’ve never heard of, ogling the famous ones, browsing through merchandise I can’t afford and don’t need, and eating too much. The 2008 Trailblazer Festival from November 14-16 in Santa Barbara, CA at the Earl Warren Showgrounds looks to be very interesting. With its emphasis on equestrian trailriders, it has planned events for all kinds of horses: Appaloosas, Paso Finos, Icelandics, and Kleger Mustangs, to name a few. Among the presenters I wouldn’t miss for the world are:
I have never been lucky enough to see a presentation by John Lyons, though I have read his books. He is so soft spoken that I wonder if he is a dynamic presenter or if you have to sit very quietly and pay very close attention to what he is saying to get the message.
